A Visit with Battlefield Band’s Alan Reid

In lieu of a word blog this fine weekend, I am sending a video of our friend Alan Reid, from Battlefield Band, doing on of the group’s signature songs. Alan and his wife Mary stayed with us during their US tour this year. We had small plates supper, drank wine, chatted about politics and music and grandchildren, and generally had a lovely time.

Alan also asked Jack up to do a couple of special numbers during their overnight gig at the bookstore here in town. Which was really funny because the two have a longstanding feud about whether accordions should be classed as instruments or, essentially, weapons. So of course Alan asked Jack to sing along on an accordion number.

A good time was had by all, even during the singing of Last Trip Home. Which is a sweet, sad, song. Enjoy.
